Will do. I'll remember to take my good cameras when I go back to check it - probably next weekend. I'd love to talk and pass along photos to someone with expertise in oaks. If you could put me in touch with someone, that would be great.

I found this article from a scientific journal that describes and illustrates the characteristics of a chestnut oak/white oak hybrid, scientific name Quercus Saulii. The tree I found matches every leaf, acorn, and bark characteristic described in the article. Warning - this is really geeky stuff unless you're a tree nerd like me.

How cool would it be to kill a nice deer under a rare tree like that. Keeping my fingers crossed that it will become a dominant tree.
