I recently came into posession of a Savage Mod. 311 SxS with some kind of varnish or clear sealer on the barrel. I plan to take it off and would like some advice/ideas on how to refinish the barrel and other metal parts of the shotgun. I've read where someone used a flat black BBQ paint for this purpose. Not sure how good an idea this is. Ideally I'd like to finish this gun with a do it yourself powder coating. Any ideas, suggestions?
Thanks,

I would suggest using a water transfering printing system. AKA Camo Dip. Google Camo Dipping and many options come up. You can do any design color or pattern and it will protect very well.

I agree with Monte!!
If anything Cammo Dip will help with the value of the gun. Unless it's an antique! But there is also a plain black water transfer you could use as well.
