I would be willing to walk in and drag out. I would hate to disturb my or someone else chances at the deer of a lifetime
One problem with walking is that you can't check in until 4:30 am. If you're hunting anywhere on the Western portion of the Island, it may take you an hour or longer to hike in. By the time you get settled in, you're looking at a late arrival, possibly well after first light depending on the time of year and what kind of terrain you have to work your way through. I don't imagine anyone wants to be late an risk spooking deer on a hunt like this.
Like I said, I don't have a ATV so I will be using a mtn. bike. I like to be settled in my stand 1.5 hours before first light. On my hunt, sunrise will be at 7:05, so first light will probably be between 6 and 6:15. Hopefully, I can get on it and be in my stand by 5:00. On foot, this just wouldn't be possible unless you stayed close to the parking area.
I don't mind walking a long ways, but in this case, I would want to be walking by 4:00 am and that won't be possible. A bike could cut the approach time in half. A ATV could cut it down to a 3rd of the time.

Depending on where you hunt you can drive your vehicle in quite a ways. I hunted on the west side and probably drove 3/4 of the way there on the main road before parking.

If it's not too muddy, you can drive all the way back to the TVA tower.
Poser, if it's muddy (gumbo mud)you can throw the bike in the river. Walking is out of the question unless you are hunting in the front part, which isn't a bad area to look since most hunters go to the back

I was there last year. You are allowed to ride on the roads and you can cross the fields to get to the woods edge. Riding in the woods is not permitted. You will not disturb anyone if you follow the rules. You are more likely to mess someone up by walking around during prime hunting hours. If you hunt in the open fields then you will have to deal with people messing you up.

Ditto that. Poser needs an ATV. But I got my 10 point within 500 yards of the check station. You will still want an ATV to be able to take advantage of the one day that you get to scout. I was only able to cover a fraction of the area that I wanted to due to the constraints of time.
