My dad was down at Lawsons in Lawrence County yesterday and talked to a fellow who has a couple hundred acres and found six dead deer this weekend while walking his place. He said one of them was a "haus" of an 8 point. He said he found them all near water. Sounds like EHD again to me. I know some places have been extremely dry. Any one experiencing this on their places?

EHD is present in TN in some quantity every year. But drought years lead to big epidemics. This hasn't been a serious drought year.

I hunt mainly in Williamson County. We've had a decent rain year. The acorns and persimmons are big and healthy looking. My dad and brothers hunt on the Maury/ Lewis county line. It has been very dry there and the trees that have acorns have a very small nut on them with a big shell. I haven't heard any thing about it around me other than what my dad heard.

We're 8+ inches below normal here in the SE portion of the state now, that's pretty serious I think and could very well promote an outbreak in our area.
I'm not sure that's enough MUP. The big outbreak we had in '07 corresponded with one of the worst droughts in recorded history.

A few die of it every year.If it was as bad as a few years ago everyone would know it.

If we had another year like 2007 now, our deer herd would be in serious trouble!

That's what I thought as well. That's why I posted this to see if anyone else had heard anything.

I ran up on a dead deer while fishing the duck river 2 weeks ago. EHD? I don't know. None of the less it was a dead deer.
