Just want to remind every one,,that since you will be heading out into the woods to scout and then hunt in a few weeks,Be careful and be on the lookout for meth labs and pot fields . Already have found several in the bradley, meigs and mcminn countys. And several have been booby trapped. If you run across one, leave it alone, get away and call local LEO..

The Drug Task Force found several pot plants on and around our lease in Rhea Co.

You have to contend with the risk of marijuana plants bring grown until the first credible risk of frost. Now you have to watch out for 20oz. drink bottles that have been used as a meth lab, not just the bigger labs.

A 2 liter soda bottle in the middle of the woods is a start. Been trying to download the PDF from work. We had a training document produced on portable meth labs. I'll keep working on it. They can cook it driving down the street.

I've been coming across pot patches and insurance frauds (burnt boats and cars) for many many years...Thats the reason I have always carried a pea shooter in my pocket....probably seen a lab or two back in the day and just didn't know what it was at the time...I am a little more educated on them now..

.40 always on the hip. Walked into a pot field years ago and heard voices who then heard me and started my way. Didn't carry back then. Scary day. Now, not so worried about it.

Just an exerpt from a training drill:
New Enemy: One‐Pot Meth • March 2010 – One‐pot meth lab found in Brandon Motel with a Deputy exposure. • One‐pot meth labs can be found in 2 liter soda bottles, Coleman fuel cans, jars or any sealable container. • Anhydrous ammonia, pseudoephedrine tablets, water and a reactive metal (Lithium) are placed into one container. • The mixing of all chemicals produces a high pressure in the container that may result in bursting and the release of the chemicals into the air.

.40 on the hip and .380 in the boot. I once had a extremely awkward and briefly uncomfortable encounter with some type of militia guys. -Not that there's anything wrong or unconstitutional with militias, it just that your walking through the woods, camoed out and all of a sudden your standing face to face with a AK47 and a MP5 and you have a bow in your hand. It all worked out and we made our separate ways. Needless to say, I didn't feel compelled to ask questions, but was definitely one of the handful of encounters that keep me continually motivated to carry a firearm and keep my situational awareness up.
All that being said, should I come across a moonshine still, I'll be walking out with a sample:)
