Am I one of a dying breed? It seems most archers use mechanical releases nowdays. They also have many stories of broken, forgotten, or dropped releases costing them opportunities.
It's impossible to forget your fingers! However, in the event of broken fingers, I have taught myself to shoot with either hand.
Even if one uses a release, would it not be wise to be able to shoot with fingers as well?

I used to shoot fingers and taught myself that way. now i use a release, but you'd better believe if I leave it, drop it or it breaks i will draw with my fingers.

I seen a guy shoot with his teeth one time,Had a leather device hooked to the string.
Trying to remember where I seen it.
Anyway I used a recurve with a shooting glove long before I shot with a release.

If I wasn't the king of torque I would happily shoot fingers. But it just doesn't work for me.

never saw the need to shoot a compound with my fingers. Yea things happen but it could happen to my car too but I don't walk just because it might. But if you want to shoot with fingers and its fun more power to you. I shoot with a shooting glove with my recurve and that's fun.

Never used a release in my life. After a badly broken finger, I had to switch from one over and two under to one and one. Took me all of 10 shots to get use to it.

In order to switch from release to fingers when using a compound bow, the bow would have to be retuned. If I have an issue with a release I have back up in my pouch that is identical to my primary. However if something happens to both then I'm on a scouting trip. My bow is set up for a release so there is no telling how it perform with out one. I'm not going to risk it.
