Went to Gander Mountain today and noticed the array of scent control products. Primos' Silver XP, Scent Killer, Scent Away, and Dead Downwind all have products aimed at reducing human scent.
I know the correct answer is to play the wind, but I know it helps to have some type of scent reducing agent.
Which one is "best" to use? With all these choices, which one do you use and have sucess with.

Unscented soap and water. Nothing better when used regularly.

Along with unscented soap I use the unscented shampoo and the unscented antiperspirant. All are Scent-A-Way products.

the thing about these products is that we can never be sure if they work at all...
The deer can't tell us whether or not they can still smell us, so I guess we just have to go on what we know.
What we know is this. Under ideal conditions(for the deer), deer will pick up our scent. Under somewhat moderate conditions ( like crosswinds and swerling winds), deer may or may not pick us up. Under upwind condtions, we can be cooking a pork shoulder and the deer won't smell us or the BBQ......
We also know that deer can pick up our scent from our footprints and by us simply brushing up against a tree limb......
if these products help hide our scent under questionable conditions then i say they are worth trying. But if a deer gets downwind of you, under ideal conditions for him/her, then you are busted.......
which is better....I have no idea, but I often use Scent away soap before the hunt , scent away deodorant and scentaway spray, often spraying down multiple times throughout the hunt.
good luck

There was a comparison test done a while back, probably google and find it, but scent away took it by a large margin.

Bacteria are only one of dozens of sources of "human" odor. Kill all the baceria, and you're still going to smell like a threat to a deer (but only if he's directly downwind).

Agree...I shower with Equate scent free body wash from Walmart and use scent free deodorant from wally world as well to minimize my scent then spray my clothes with Scent Away spray.

i just play the wind and keep it in my face. if i cant access the area i am going to hunt without blowing my scent towards where i'll be facing than i just don't hunt there.
i use scent away spray sometimes but i don't count on it. last year i got sick when i reached around 20" in my clibmer last year hunting the afternoon after a bachelor party and started puking and sweating real bad. i stripped down to my under armour bottoms and and while puking had three does come in. i killed two. one at 27 yards and the other at 33. wind was blowing straight to me and they had no clue what hit em. i'd a killed the third but i dropped my third arrow.

I hunt the wind as well....WHEN I CAN. The wind does not always cooperate. Hunting the wind can be as frustrating as sitting by a campfire on a variable wind night, constantly moving the chair to keep the wind and smoke out of your face.

I spend less than $50 a season on everything. IMO, that is not a lot of money these days.

I wash in unscented soap and use the free and clear detergent for the cloths.I wear a t-shirt to the stand and once in the tree pull the shirt off and whipe myself down and change to a new dry shirt. put the old shirt in a bag and then in my back pack. spray with scent away earth or the fall scent. Does it help? I think so as I see more deer along with playing the wind. But if you only had to play the wind then why shower in the morning or worry about getting gas on your cloths at the gas station etc. every little bit helps.

I've always varied betweeen Scent-a-Way and Scent Killer, whichever one was the least expensive. I've never tried Dead Downwind or the Primos stuff. For some reason, it just struck me as to the products available these days.
