Heck...I'm getting a Ghillie type suit and will be hunting from the ground with a bow in cold weather this year. I want to be able to walk back to the truck and get warm if I start to get hypothermia lol!

I try to find a Big Tree to sit at or a group of trees to get in between. Think about some of the blind makeing material and some cammo rope to tie it to tress around you or take some dowel rods or garden stakes with you for that,to be mobile. Really just need to break your outline up to aid in movement.
Clear out a big area to move around in.
Gonna have to think "ground" and not "tree stand" in picking your spot. Some areas are better from the ground while others are better from "tree stand",while some don't matter.
Good Luck

Find an area w/3 trees in somewhat close proximity to one another that form a triangle. Run a pice of 550 cord about 5ft up around all 3. Hang camo burlap, netting, or fresh cut limbs full of green leaves down from the cord on all 3 sides forming your blind. Cut out shooting windows and camo as desired. A 5gl bucket makes a good seat but get a pad. The beauty of using the tree limbs, is that come fall, they will match your surroundings perfectly. This blind should cost no more than $20 to construct and if you use nature, it is free. It is way better and roomier than any pop ub blind and you can put them all over your property.

Depending on where you hunt, I would glass and try to cut deer off by setting up after you have located a deer. I have killed 65-70 deer from the ground, none of them from a ground blind. That being said, I have made a mistake or the deer have went the wrong way or something not associated with me or the deer has messed up an opportunity at 4 times for every successful kill I have made from the ground. Persistence is the key to me, like most say, just don't give up. A bowkill from the ground is worth 10 from a ground blind or a treestand to me.
