I disagree and much prefer to gut them on the ground!
I saw and split the pelvic bone, cut the diaphram on either side and reach up and cut the windpipe. I then actually peel everything inside them from top to bottom, absolutely nothing left in them, absolutely clean as a pin from top to bottom in about 2 minutes or less.
I have saw people waste 10 minutes gutting a deer and make a mess, its really not that hard and most people make way too big a deal of it!

Although I have field dressed one with a broadhead and a boxcutter I perfer to use a knife. \:D

All I do is point his south end down hill and open him up. Cut the sack lose that seperates the vitals from the guts. Reach up in about elbow deep grab that goosel and cut it. Its all down hill from there. Grab that gut and start pulling on it. When Im done I use my limb saw to saw though the top side of the pelvis bone. Then put my feet on each of his hind legs take hold of the tail and lift straight up. That should break the pelvis and allow you to access the bladder and urinary track.

Ditto.. Peel the skin off with the 4 wheeler. I do take out the ribs so I have to open them up.
