Most of these hunting shows are done where the deer are watched and patterned all year long.....

By the time that bow season comes along, the hunters know the deer and can call them by name......

I doubt that any of us know our areas that well.....

Bow hunting mature bucks is a great challenge and lots of fun. Being successful at it is by far one of the hardest things to do in the hunting world...

I can assure you that many mature deer "get away" from hunters simply because of the hunters lack of time and resources to pattern the deer.....going out there somewhat "blind" is a huge handicap and will prove detrimental to your success...

Too many factors have to be just right with a bow and getting two cracks at him is rare.....

Every buck that i have ever killed on Chaney, I never saw them before I shot them......many, I would have never gotten with a bow.

good luck

Anytime I can be in the woods after a big mature buck I'm going to be there no matter what weapon

Early season is my favorite time to hunt for old mature bucks that I've been scouting all summer. Lots of times I will see them but a lot of times I can't get a shot, that's just part of it. The biggest concern I have bowhunting in early season is making sure I can get in and out of the area with very low impact. If I'm confident that I can do that I'll hunt the deer as hard as possible for the first few weeks then I'll give myself a rest and the deer. But I absolutely love jumping around with my climber early season and trying to pick the correct route that the deer is going to take to or from his bedding area.

Mature bucks move most in daylight (during hunting season) at two different times--the first week or two of bow season and the week before peak breeding.

that has been my experence over the years. and I do like the first week of bow season.
