If its been raining long and hard, you'll often get movement the minute the rain stops. For me, this makes hunting in the rain, or rather, waiting on the rain to stop, a priority. Admittingly, 2 or 3 days in a row of constant rain can be a grueling test of will. -especially when its cold and there's a Cracker Barrel close by.... nothing like a late breakfast when you've been hunting in the rain all day.

Like to hunt dominant trees right after it stops raining. The deer seem to want to feed heavy right after a front blows out. I watch the weather radar and time it so that I'm in the tree about 15 minutes before the rain stops. Won't shoot with a bow while it's raining since it will wash away blood trail.

D fits me best....but i am a common sense kind of guy. I dont do stupid. Better to leave on a really questionable weather day and live to hunt another. I have been in trees with the wind blowing 25mph and i can tell you that aint smart.....didnt stay too long. i hunt if i feel my chances are good. I had rather be there when the weather breaks, and i know the deer are gonna move.....they dont move in a 25mph downpour that has set in for 7 hours.

A deer can't go to a hotel to get out of the rain so you get out there and hunt son... what my dad always told me. I've killed quite a few deer in a driving rain.

I believe a solid soaking rain without the lightning and heavy wind is terrific time to stalk. If you have some good rain refuge spots that you think the deer are in, then the rain provides excellent cover for slowly slipping in to the area. Methodical is the key word here as well as observant. Clothing is going to be essential as well. I would suggest treating your hunting clothing with silicone water-guard. Once dry its odorless and it works great for beading up water and rolling it right off.

Okay... if its just the weekend I might fit under the first 3 choices.... If I'm vacation to hunt, then the last 2 apply... This is kind of like asking me if I'm a trophy or meat hunter.... Depends what is in my freezer and what period of the hunting season I'm in.... I hunt 90 % of the time in E. TN so W. TN rules don't apply....

Your dad sounds like a man with a proper opinion.
