It could be a problem this year.

Just got back from a little walk in the woods behind the house. I noticed a potential problem.
Every single oak was loaded with mast and I have never seen the green browse so high. Deer won't have to move 10 feet to feed. Food is the catalysr that makes deer move. If deer don't move, we can't kill them.
Could be a problem for bow hunters expecially.
BTW, I only stumbled once, didn't fall a single time.

I agree 100%. From a hunting standpoint, I prefer poor mast years. For a nutritional standpoint, This year will be great for deer, but will be bad for hunters.
However, there will be places where food is associated with preferred cover, and that is where i will be, hunting the cover.
of course, all those dang acorns sure make the walk in a fun one with a treestand on your back.

Walk until you find the freshest feeding sign. Hunt there.

Even in good mast years, there will still be dominant trees that the deer prefer. Just takes a little more scouting time to find 'em. Terrain features and cover will (as always) influence their travel patterns which in turn influence their choice of foodsources. I enjoy the challenge of figuring it out as much as I do the hunting. Can't wait!
That said, looks like an "average" (whatever that means) mast year in my hunting area.

Hopefully all of the food will keep the deer on the mountain where I hunt, and persuade those in the bottomland to move up.

Bumper acorn years can be tough hunting. Couple that with ample browse from a wet summer and it could be very difficult.
That's why I'm just going to hunt the rut!

I'm with BSK, food has no effect on my hunting success- it's all about the rut- and consequently I'm more concerned about daytime temps in Nov.

Yep, it is about the rut. Most hunters do more damage than good when hunting mature deer with a bow.

I've got the bucks, now if the weather in November will just cooperate...
