I was shooting at Old Hickory archery range and noticed a tree that had some type of fruit underneath it and have never come across this particular type of tree before--unfortunately I didn't have a camera with me. The leaves were some what football shaped and approx 6 inches x 4 inches and the fruit was green and oval potato shaped. I opened the fruit and it was very sweet smelling almost like a apricot/papaya and it had an orange flesh with seeds inside that were approx penny sized. Any ideas?

Paw Paw fruit (also called prairie banana, Hoosier banana or poor man's banana) is a fruit of a plant native to North America. The seeds have insecticidal properties.
