They are called cow horn spikes at least that is what i have heard them called. I have seen one in my life. It too was with a 8 pt buck and had 14-15" beams.

I would say about 90% of all of our bucks have a shorter left browtine than the right....This has been the case since we have owned our place (10 years). Though I have noticed that years we kill ALOT of does, the following couple of years seem to of distinguished that trait, but then it comes back. I had the understanding that it was a "doe sink" and bringing in new genes from surrounding areas. We were lucky enough to purchase our land from a friend that was having money trouble. - Point being, we have seen plenty of deer that were killed on the property many years ago, and most all of those deer have that same short left browtine. It's interesting, but drives me nuts \:\)

On a given property I will definitely see a particular unique antler configuration show up over and over again. And enough time will have passed between individual bucks that these shaped antlers can't be related bucks (other than potentially through their mother's lineage).

Killed a spike buck with 15 inch horns several years ago. He field dressed 172 and had very few teeth left, But he had the trees tore up on the ridge he lived on.

We've been seeing one this year. He is just a yearling, but has main beams that curve in much like a "normal" rack, but no tines. He does have itty bitty browtines though.

Never saw one totally slick that I know of.

Looking close at that pic, to me it looks like that buck in the pic could be a 6 point and possibly an 8.

I killed a unicorn buck 10 years or so back that was by far the largest buck{frame-wise} that I had shot to date. He had the long, wide head and long yet "sag-back" body of a mature buck. Dressed in the 170-180 something pounds.
16" single spike.
We also have a high incedence of brow tineless bucks on my prop. Lots of "6" pointers.

How's this for some long spikes on a yearling buck? These are probably the longest spikes I've ever seen on a yearling:

Just to be sure, you are talking about the second picture in this post, correct? It is the one I'm referring to. Sorry for any confusion.

Those are some long spikes for such a young deer. Hope he sticks around so you can watch his progression.
