But you were right so who's laughing now? ;\) Rut cycle most certainly varies from my perspective. No county lines needed.

I can't recall. It was a late summer show so I may not have been. However if that were the case, someone would have been hollering "Walk proud Johnny Boy, walk proud."

I hunt Lincoln & Giles counties and there are two primary ruts there. The northern half seems to start around the second week in Nov. The closer to Alabama (south) you go in the counties the later it starts. In the Ardmore/Booneshill/Prospect area I have found the deer about 2 weeks behind the northern half of the counties. The primary rut seems to kick in the 4th week of Nov and 1st week of Dec.
I live in Elkmont, AL about 5 miles south of the TN line and the primary rut kicks in about the 3rd week of Dec there. These deer were introduced from south AL. This may help to explain the later rut the futher south you go in Lincoln and Giles counties.

I go to church with one of the local meat processors. He tells me every year during muzzleloader that "Several bucks came in stinkin'...they are rutting. But still a bunch came in that don't even have a swollen neck." Some of these bucks come just a few miles from each other. If you find a crystal ball that works I'll pay to use it...lol.
