156, That is a classic picture. Looks like their hunting clothes are military issue. Is that a Bowie knife strapped to the guy on the left? Where was the deer taken?
Good stuff!

Yeah he's got a big bowie on his side, that deer was taken in Middle TN. I think he hunted for many years before he killed a deer or even saw one. He sure was proud of that deer, I had the mount for a long time until it fell apart. My great granddad is on the right looking at the camera.

I would almost bet money we all had more fun with it back then,, You wouldn't win money from me! The hunting is MUCH better and more fun now. But then I've backed way off on how serious I take the management and the hunting. define "fun" back then,I was excited on stand all the time,,I knew when I saw a buck it was a shooter now when I see a deer by the time if I decide if I want to fool with killing it or not,I dont really have time to get excited,,I can honestly say I have not gotten that buck fever rush in a long time,,back in those days I kept it.
It's more fun because we see a lot more deer than we used to. Back then deer densities were much lower and sightings less frequent. In addition, "big" bucks were a dream, not a reality. Now they are a reality, which adds to the anticipation.

Great memories for sure. I need to scan in some of my old pics. Im like Eric, sometimes I spend hours just going back and looking thru old hunting and fishing albums. Im sorta getting to relive it all again right now however with my 2 boys. They have that burning desire to simply hunt and kill whatever they see. I love the excitement and would rather watch them kill most any deer than shoot a good buck myself! I will agree however that the hunting is 10x better than when I was a kid, but I think thats why we all love it so much, we had to work so hard to get to where we are now!
