1.Do you have to wear orange during gun season at lbl, although it is bow only?---(TN side)
2. I read somewhere that buck/doe ratio was 1/1, do the bucks respond to rattling/calls?
3. Summit climber---it has the metal "cleats" against the tree. Does this classify as a stand that doesnt harm trees?
Thanks for all the help!

yes anywhere in tn you have to wear orange during gun season, dont know much about the 1:1 ration but if the "right" buck hears the horns he will come and investigate and the summit climber is not what i consider a stand to hurt any tree but im not twra so i would look into that more.

I might be wrong but from what I'm reading the hunter orange requirement at LBL applies to their quota hunts not during their archery-only hunts:
"Hunter Orange: All quota hunters, youth hunters, and adults accompanying youth hunters must wear visible items of hunter orange as required by state regulations."

1.Do you have to wear orange during gun season at lbl, although it is bow only?---(TN side)
The ONLY Gun hunts are those listed as QUOTA hunts and YES, you have to wear Orange during these hunts. There is NO Bow hunting during either of the 3 gun hunts. There are 3 Quota hunt dates and all three are 2 Day hunts. The day prior to each of those 3 hunts is a NO HUNTING day so no weapon is allowed on LBL for the purpose of deer hunting during those 3 days as well.
2. I read somewhere that buck/doe ratio was 1/1, do the bucks respond to rattling/calls? That ratio is NOT what I've noticed but if you read it then I'd like to know where you got that info. YES, Bucks of all sizes will respond to calls including rattling.
3. Summit climber---it has the metal "cleats" against the tree. Does this classify as a stand that doesnt harm trees? NO. Those type of climbing stands are OK for use on trees as long as you don't have any screw in type devices that further secure the stand to the tree.
Thanks for all the help!

Hunted there last year and had the same question about the hunter orange. According to the officer at the Welcome station, orange is only required during the quota gun hunts. Outside of those quota hunts, firearms are illegal for any other purpose and orange is not required. I've seen many more does than bucks hunting there. I used a Summit Viper all year there. Their regulations are more for the screw in type of steps. They also ask that hunters not hack off limbs/clear shooting lanes. We took that to mean DO NOT cut any of their trees. Nice place to hunt, very quiet most of the time. Just watch out for the random hikers!

"....firearms are illegal for any other purpose...."
LBL allows firearms for Small Game. The dates are listed in their regs but Orange isn't required for those seasons although firearms are being used.

Thanks Duck! Guess the game warden was talking about deer hunting only... I'll have to get out the regulations and find out when the small game seasons are.

You can bow hunt one the quota hunts IF you have a quota permit but you will have to wear orange.
