I have always heard when you can see the moon out early in evening the deer should be moving well. Last night I got out of church sevice at 6:30 p.m CST and as was leaving saw that moon was up pretty high, anyway saw 2 nice bucks feeding in riverbottom field on my way home. Have you noticed this? I know this is a simple question but how do find out what days moon will be up couple hours or more before dark? Is it the days leading up to a full moon ?

Two years ago my buddy told me ,"if you see the moon out in the evening, you will see deer." I must say it's astonishing how many times I have seen deer while moon is out.

Two years ago my buddy told me ,"if you see the moon out in the evening, you will see deer." I must say it's astonishing how many times I have seen deer while moon is out. An old and very wise hunter told me one time many years ago that the deer get up and bed down with the moon. Over the years I have put faith in this, and generally it appears to be true.

Rubbish. Deer move and eat when it's comfortable for them. Moon gives light at night and that's about it.

I'm sure the moon has some effect on deer but I have certainly never been able to tell what it is.

I have noticed when it is a a big bright full mood I don't see as many deer as I do in the dark of the moon.

What it is, is the gravitational pull of the moon. Sort of like bringing in a tide on the ocean. When the deer are bedded, the moon sort of pulls them up a little bit and gets them to want to go get something to eat.
Study conducted at Slippery Rock University.

Wonder what causes mine to be grouchy new moon all the way thru full moon. Reckon it ....................................... may be a result of I hunt and fish all stages of the moon just to be sure I'm there at primetime.
