How would you like to spend the rest of your life with Neanderthal brows and no ears, just to prove that you're a Bad A$$, or at least, was once? lol

If your implication is that "some" people get into the sport for self indulgent and ego-driven reasons, then I think you are correct. Others, however, choose to train MMA for many reasons that have nothing to do with proving something.

Personally, I really don't want to develop cauliflower ear and a lot of scar tissue, but some guys actually like it. I try to take it easy and avoid as much contact in training as I can. My wife reprimands me for black eyes and scratches, so I don't think she'd be too thrilled with the look you're describing.

I can't imagine anyone liking to look like some sort of freak. You can get in world class condition in lots of ways without absorbing any scar producing trauma to the head. Especially those that don't get paid for the trouble. lol But, I am a strong advocate of different strokes for different folks. If that's what turns somebody on, then by all means, go for it. And I do enjoy watching those that are genuinely good at their trade, i.e. George St.Pierre
