Haven't heard of any large-scale EHD outbreaks. I believe that any deer that contracted EHD in 2007 and survived (or that is an offspring of a deer that did) has immunity to it. If that is indeed true, then most of the deer walking around in Tennessee right now probably are immune.

Its not the heat but rather the midges.. They suffer in the heat and suffer from the ticks, etc.

I know we had a hot dry spell for a little while, but we have had some really good rain over the last week or so. I went scouting today and every low lying area and indention had water in it. the lake was over it's banks in a couple places.

I suffered, but I'm still alive....for right now (ha). I guess
one good thing about this summers extreme heat, is we are not in
a drought in most areas. In fact, around where I live, the woods
almost look tropical with all the vegetation.

Browes is great, all mast looks good, so if the deer in fact do
survive the heat, they will probably eat good this fall.

Don't know where you live but this summer has been anything but dry. It has been hot, but far from dry. I thought I heard it was the wettest summer we have had in a long time.

No worries on the deer, they can handle this weather with no issues.

Knoxville is 10 inches behind the same date last year in rainfall. 28" so far 2010, 38" this date '09.
