Wonder why some genus doesnt invent a contraption like a"Fall Guy" except with an adjustable automatic lowering system. Make it work like the drag in a fishing reel, and adjust the tension to your weight. Instead of suspension trauma, if you fall, just keep cruising slowly to the ground.
I know about the cds system, I am talking about a thing to hook any harness to.

Montana Gold had the right idea when they invented the trap door kinetic operated one with no strings or cables. I have two of them and wouldnt consider anything else though they now be out of business.
I love them! I have never had a failure either.
