my question is how do you know if you're right or not? If you dont take it to someone to look at the jaw bone you will never know if the way you are judging is correct.
That's correct, and why you need to follow up with every deer killed and have tooth-wear aged.
It can be a great learning experience to compare what you age you gave a buck from field-judging and what his age is based on tooth-wear.
