I love tracking deer, but I dont like seeing one run away? LOL Makes me second guess where the crosshairs were and everything. With bow I like them to run off but hear them crash, then you get to track and know the deer is down nearby. Guess my favorite is tracking a deer that someone else has shot, then I dont know exactly what happened.

I'd much rather have them die before they hit the ground than track. Once I decide to shoot an animal I do my best to be sure they die quickly.
I shot a running buck with a 50 cal muzzleloader at the base of the skull once, couldn't have worked out better IMO.

I like tracking myself! I won't argue with a bang flop. I even track deer if I see them crash from my stand.

tracking is always fun and an adventure. Of course as long as its a good hit and you find the deer. If not then it can be a long night.

depends on the situation and location. if you make a good shot with a bow, the deer WILL run off. i like the high shoulder shot with a rifle to anchor them where they stand.

I prefer the deer going down ASAP, but as long as i can find the deer I don't mind tracking.
