Flop, unless they are going to run toward the truck.

I like tracking myself! I won't argue with a bang flop. I even track deer if I see them crash from my stand.
i do the same thing... you can never get too much practice in blood trailing.
But of course if i had to choose, i would want the deer i shoot to die as quickly as possible.

I had an old do rare up like a horse then fall over backwards. That was pretty neat to see. Not exactly a flop, but she was dead quick.

I prefer to drop them in thier tracks. That being said a hunt a couple of years ago stands out as my most memorial hunt. 1 afternoon I heard a shot next door ,1/2 hour later I see a nice buck come limping along (11 pt ) .He was across the creek and in thick cover.I waited till almost dark and got down to go check it out.I found a good blood trail, the neighbor shows up. We talk and start tracking. The buck went back and forth across the creek several times. We gave it up till the next morning. We ended up tracking the buck over a mile and 1/2 a good part of it was thru trees blown down by a tornado. Finally found him still standing in the creek. The neighbor finished him off. It was very hard for me to believe this deer had a 30-06 enter thru his chest, exit and break a leg. After we started the long drag out I found out the neighbor had 3 bypasses. I was afraid I would have to drag him out. One hunt I'll never forget and all I did was track and drag.
