BGG- I can't read it, either but I did an artcle a year ago after interviewing several insurance agents and body shop owners here in Wilson county. I believe they showed something like a 48% increase over the previous five years.

I could read enough to know i believe its not correct.It shows Tn. with more road kill than Ky.Drive from Nashville to Paducha in November.Ky roadkill will out number Tn.4 to 1.

If they had projected data for that time period (July 2002-June 2010), then surely they have actual data now.
Looking at the difference between the two would interesting-
Comparing that with your population data would help model the mortality you can't control.
Of course, by your post, you've already thought those things though.

BGG, I have LONG used road kills to estimate PEAK rutting activity in the Counties/States I frequent during the rut.
I MOSTLY use I-24 E/W to watch the rut "roll" this way from up North.
One can almost follow the rut based on sightings and reports from travelers.
It has without a doubt been the most accurate tool I've used to know when to get in a tree!!!
