Personally, I like and often agree Nugent. That being said, I don't think his "in your face" style is necessarily the best public representation for many of the positions he stands for.

His show is ok. I usually don't mind it so much, but have noticed he only hunts over bait piles which is, at the very least, lame. It reasonably cool that he gets just as excited over a fawn kill as a African big game kills.

I can respect the fact that he hunts with a 50 lbs draw. I can also respect the fact that he can accurately handle a 10mm handgun. -too much bark for most shooters to accurately handle. -both examples say something for one's character.

Overall, I'd definitely side with Nugent over his opposition, just often thinks that he talks too much.

Yeah, its just that we all know he's a legitimately good hunter. Why hunt over bait?? I mean, I know his retort to this question... long winded and logically sound, but kind of turns my stomach at the same time....

lol..the spirit of the corn pile attracts the magnificent animal. Then he puts and arrow through his heart and watches as the run of death lasts only 17 seconds. Death trail was only 45 yards. As the animals spirit descends into the heavens tribe nuggent has another tasty meal on the ground. All because the corn spirits coaxed the deer into the "nuges" harvest perimeter.

I say throw him in day for 25 days and he can do one more then Donte' Stallworth for running over a guy while drunk in the same Bentley that Stallworth resisted arrest in prior to the first incident.... I guess both took responsibility ....

He has said on his show that he will bait for his deer because it is his right and no one will tell him whether or not he can so this is not a suprise. Although I am a fan of Ted Nugent he says stuff such as this that makes me want to crawl under my own couch sometimes.

I just dont get it with these guys. I think the Parker's Hank, Hank Jr., and Billy are the worst baiters in the outdoor hunting show industry. It really annoys me to no end to watch all of these supposed PROFESSIONAL hunters baiting these big bucks in to their piles (and yes they kill really big bucks). Most of the shows you watch today are this way. I would love to challenge any of those guys to a real hunting situation in the wild woods of TN (maybe Catoosa WMA) and see how many days of footage, or lack there of they would have in pursuit of killing one of our big ones fair chase, without the bait. They can't do it.

I like Uncle Ted, but I hate that most of these TV shows have deer shot over bait. Does not reflect well on the rest of us that do it "the hard way". As stated above, I would love to take these guys through some of our public hunting areas. Maybe a mountain or 2 at Royal Blue or Tellico just to remind them of what REAL hunting is.

Yep, professional hunter = professional pitchman. Funny part is, half of 'em need a guide to find the corn pile. Sad how sportsmanship and ethics go out the door when money and fame get involved. Queue up the Pink Floyd...

At least he wasn't behind a high fence. And Poser, how in the world do you equate shooting a 50# draw and wrist-killer hand gun with character? \:\) I know there are some outright criminals that do the same. Now when you use either of those items to break the law...now that says a lot about your character.

"Spirt of the corn pile." now that's funny.

Uncle Ted is way over the top. But I think thats a good thing. He can push back on all the tree hugger types that are also way over the top. We need someone taking the fight right back to them. But for the mainstream I don't think he goes over to well.

Fair enough. The character thing was pretty much a joke. My point was he focuses his archery on finess rather than speed and power. The opposite of what is currently in style.

As for the 10mm, I believe the FBI switched to that round at one point for about 2 weeks. Their agents couldn't make effective 3 shot groupings. Of course, if I had the money and time to dedicate to shooting that Ted does, I would probably be proficient with a 10mm as well.

Since the post was obviously criticaI in intent, I was just trying to say something positive about him.

I went to Alabama on a hunt several years ago, and one of the guides where I was also worked at the local co-op. One of the big name hunting shows was in town hunting while I was there (not gonna name them, but they make camo patterns) and the guide told me that the co-op could not keep corn in stock while they were in town filming. They said the game wardens did not bother them because the hunting was the backbone of the local economy.

Maybe his style is too abrupt for some but in my debates with people against hunting, his point is the strongest we have. The playing field will never be level between hunter and game simply by definition.

When I talk with people about hunting, I include all of the usual, sportsmanship, humane kill, yada yada. The point that puts them in their place however is the one of "would you rather eat a cow that stood belly deep in its own Sh** for a month before it was slaughtered or a deer that was free roam. Harvest is the key word. Free range livestock. The most efficient way to harvest them is over a food plot or corn." At least they are not subjected to harsh treatment and growth hormones for months before their death. See hippies, we do have something in common.
