You shoot a buck at last light and it breaks him down but the deer stumbles out of your sight . You can hear the deer russeling in the leaves and then quitens down so you give him the customary time limit and go to the deer . Upon arriving at the deer you see that the deer is down but much alive .. what do you do ? Oh , you are hunting by yourself .
1. You try and wrestle the deer and cut his throat or other area to bleed him out .
2. Wait him out (may be hours before he dies)
3. Shoot him again .
P.S. Realize it is after sunset but have you ever tried to wrestle a buck to cut him by yourself ? Honestly I have had this happen to me on a couple of occastions and I after being thrown around before will not hesitate to shoot him again but were I'm going with this is ...am I breaking the law shooting after sunset ?

I'd shoot him agan!Im not gonna risk getting hurt trying to cut his throat and im not gonna risk letting the deer run off wounded when I could have easily finished him off...

Good question. Option one is not safe. Option two is not humane. Option three is the only reasonable thing to do, but could be breaking the law if it is more than 30 minutes after sunset. If it's less than 30 minutes after sunset, it's legal anyway. Seems to me it would be up to the WO's discretion whether to issue a citation, but that's just a guess.

LOL, you might be breaking the law, but you will be doing the right thing for several reasons by shooting him again. Any Warden that would write you a ticket for that needs serious evaluation!

Tough one, depends on how bad of shape I believe the deer is in. Arrows and broadheads aint cheap. Im not gonna wrestle him LOL but, if I think I could cut his throat probably go that route.

Sit next to him. Say a little prayer. Then slice his throat.

I have done both #1 and #3 at one time or the other,...and which one I do if put into that situation again will depend on the mental/physical disposition of the animal itself...I will dispatch the deer quickly and not take a chance on getting myself hurt either...I can say that the one thing I will not do is sit around and just wait for the animal to die....
