If I remember correctly, The game laws state that if you wound an animal and find it still alive your are to immediately dispatch the animal. I don't remember anything about time limits at all. the quicker the kill the more humane is the way to go.

I would pick up the phone, call my local WO and let him know the situation, and dispatch the deer.
