I have a field that I hunt every fall. I ride up to the barn every evening and I have a lot of deer feeding in the field. Here is the wierd thing. I have a doe and 3-4 fawns and a 7 point that comes out every evening together. They never leave each other and the buck has a tiny fawn that is constantly under him and around him.. They enter the field together and leave together. I have never seen the doe nor the buck without both of them being together. Are they brother and sister???? The buck looks 3.5 yrs old to me. Am i crazy to think that this is strange..

I think bowriter has given you your answer... its probably an antlered doe. That could be a unique harvest.

A buck would be hard pressed to be with a doe right now,
I bet Bowriter is right.

On one of the WMA's I seen the very same thing. In some cases I think a doe tolerates a buck depending on the circumstance. I have seen it other places and don't think it is that uncommon just not the norm. Antler doe would be more uncommon.

I used to think that an antlered doe would usually have a small or un-branched antlered rack. Then one evening I was at WandW processing and Taxidermy. A guy brought in a 100 inch 8 point. I videoed this dead deer as it was the biggest antlered DOE I had ever seen.

Are you sure he's 3.5? My guess would be he's her offspring from last year and she hasn't pushed him off yet?

That could be an antlered doe, but considering how rare they are I suspect it is just a buck that never left home. Some older bucks will attempt to hang around "momma" for years, and will do so as long as momma doesn't chase him away.

I will have to agree with BSK, much more common scenario than an antlered doe.
