I have bugged a few people through PM's and Im still in search of answers to the following questions.
How are the camp grounds?
Are 4 wheelers allowed?

yeah I heard EHD hit the area. I assume in 2007. You would hope that the deer would/should be rebounding by now.

There were 2 campgrounds. 1 by the lake and 1 at the check in station. I did not get to hunt there last year. I pretty sure it was posted on here that the camp ground by the lake closed.The one at the Check in station is primitive.They do have outhouses.4 wheelers are not allowed off road. I do see alot of guys cruseing the roads with them.
I always stay at the Natchez Trace Preserve. They open the cabins up to non menbers during hunting season. Nice clean basic cabins with running water. Bring your own linens for a better rate.The cabins are right on a lake.I usally bring a fishing pole.

On the WMA map on the TWRA website it shows three campsites within the WMA. One is on VFW Rd, VFW lake which is inside the WMA boundaries according to the map.

WestTN I looked at it and the one by VFW lake is the one by the game checking station. there is one listed by the county check station which is by the main lake, that one must be the one that closed. I am most likely just gonna camp, but you never know.
what condition are the roads in. Do you need 4 wheel dr or will 2 wheel get it.

I googled it,lots of Info,wonder why the 5 on one side rule?
I think it was some type of an attempt at management. I did notice the 15" outside spread, which is not to horribly hard to do on a decent buck, notice i didn't say "good buck" but it does stop the basket rack 4, 6, and 8's from getting shot.

That is correct the 1 by the main lake was closed. 2 wheel drive is fine. There are a few places where U might have to drive thru water if it's low.
I have hunted there quite a few times over the years.I had to pass a couple of times because I could only see one side.Once on a real foggy morning I could see a big spread but couldn't see well enough to count points.
My personal opinon is the trophy management program is working better for the locals that hunt around there. A few decent deer are taken every year. Alot more people go home empty handed.I do like to hunt there .The potential is there Good Luck to ya.

I have never been able to count points in my 43 years of deer
hunting. I guess that's because I don't try to and if I did, the
buck would be gone. A huge rack is much eaiser to identifiy,
than trying to count 9 1" or better "points".
Heck, I don't even have time to judge if a buck has a big
enough neck when I see a huge rack. Of course all this is based
on where I hunt. To me, in thick cover, I can spot the movement
of the rack better than I can the deer. Once I know he has a very
good rack, my last few availabile seconds are foucused on making
a killing shot.

You can use a 4-wheeler to retreve down game (unless they changed it) but dont bring them in the woods other then that or dnr will be all over you. What hunt do you have, we got the smoke poll in october

well if all goes well,and the wife hold out till after that to have the baby I'll be there. Dad and I both got drawn and like I said they keep there camper there year round. I think they open up a few spots for people during hunting season but I can find out whatever you need if you want

You might want to give Al a call about the 4 wheeler use.
Page 42 of the hunting guide .
Motorized vehicles: All motorized vehicles must be muffler equipped to
suppress noise and be spark-arrestor equipped to prevent fires. Operation
of motorized vehicles is confined to roads not designated as closed.
Off-road vehicles are restricted to roads open to other motorized traffic
(except where prohibited by state or federal statute) and designated trails
only. ORVs may be operated during daylight hours and at other times
when participating in authorized activities. Driving off roads into woods,
fields or utility right-of-ways is prohibited for all motorized vehicles.
Motorized vehicles may be prohibited on any agency-owned wildlife
management area if deemed necessary to protect wildlife, vegetation
and/or property. Some exceptions apply. See individual WMAs for
specific restrictions.

I actually don't mind camping primitive style and I don't know what my money situation will be at that time. I'm more worried about not being able a spot to set up if the other camp site is closed.
West TN The guide list Philip Smith as the area manager. Is that wrong or is Al a manager there too?

Philip Smith is actually the Wildlife Officer but Al Pollock still works out there. I have hunted this wma for over 30 years and have seen the up and down years. As a previous post mentioned they have allowed some to use atv's to retrieve downed game but nothing else. I wouldn't recommend going in at 7:30 in the morning to get a deer. I really enjoy hunting this wma and will continue to hunt it.
