Went the the Hunting and Fishing Extravaganza. It was fun for the first 15 minute stroll around the vendors. After that, I completely lost interest as there wasn't much of anything I felt compelled to buy. Som of stuff was "on sale", but not really any cheaper than you can already get it for. I was hoping to find some archery targets on sale, but only even saw 2 and they were the same price as Bass Pro, plus the entrance fee. -fairly disappointed, but didn't have anything better to do, plus there were a few good looking ladies there.

The shows have been VERY disapointing around here for some time now! Back 7 or 8 years ago they were better. Now it isn't worth the time and money to even see the few good deer people bring in.

I went yesterday as well. I'll agree, its a joke. I wish someone in West Tn. would put on a decent show. Drove all the way to Memphis, fifteen minutes later, I was done. Mostly junk. Later

The last 2 or 3 years I went to the one in Memphis I was really disappointed and kept asking myself why I even went. I haven't been now in the last 4 years and I don't think I've missed a thing.

Guys this show is a joke. I dont know why I even go anymore. I figure that maybe I will be surprised. After Ducks Unlimited bailed out several years ago it went downhill fast. Any out of towners coming in go to Wal-Mart better selection and better prices. Half the stuff in there isnt even related to hunting.

I went last year, and it was just ok. I didn't go this year. I could'nt think of any reason to go.
I REALLY wish Ducks Unlimited would have their Outdoor Festivals here again. I liked that. I'd go to that if they brought it back.

I wrote it off several years ago myself. No reason to pay someone to charge me more than I can already buy the stuff for!

I went this year and it was pretty bad. I agree that 1/2 the vendors had no clue what hunting was about... SERIOUSLY A VESPA VENDOR!?? Cause you know...we all drive vespas through the creek beds with a 200lb dead deer on the back of it! Hell, they didnt' even have a camo one!
I did end up getting a [censored] beagle for my kids! CRAP!

Oh yeah... I forgot about the Vespa dealer. Man, those guys probably dropped a couple of grand for a booth and din't get a single bit of interest.
Looked to me like the real estate agents, who trying to sell huge hunting lands, we're pretty lonely, too.

I went on Sunday and Haddad's had some of his clothes 75% off. Of course, they were marked up to begin with, but I got some nice insulated, waterproof Mossy Oak bibs for $30. They're $80 right now at Bass Pro. Other than that, it was a waste of time.I really miss the DU Great Outdoors Festival. From what I understand, the booths just got way too expensive for most vendors.

It's not only the booths became to expensive... but Gentlemen/women.... we're in a dying sport. FACT!
Fewer and fewer people are being ABLE to hunt... land cost... big game outfitters buying the good land and charging astronomical fees. The majority of the people I hear about hunting involves going to WMA's. Not dogging the WMA's but I remember when my father had a 3600 lease with big bucks on it and it was like 1400 a year for just him and I.
I've got my son involved in hunting and he's 10 now. He loves it but does not understand when I say "son, it's only a matter of time before there is NO land left to hunt unless your a millionaire."
Anywho... yeah, we're in a very good spot for sportsman to have a convention/extravaganza, but unfortunantly the economy is so bad that less and less people are hunting. Myself included, couldn't afford my lease this year so I have to rely on WMA's or places like Holston to fill the freezer.
