Just watching one last night when, as usual, the guy being filmed was jawing about where he was at and what he was about to do, when the cameraman finally got his attn and pointed to a nice buck approaching. Here's where it gets a little over the top for me, they started playing some heavy metal rock as the cameral followed the buck in and up until the shot. Maybe it's just me getting older, as I used to like the rock music, but that just don't jive to me watching a nice buck coming into range while loud music blares in the background. Anyone else find this a little out of place?

I actually prefer a quiet, stealthy scene as the deer approach, not "noise" which doesn't relate to the hunt at all. Maybe the younger folks like it?

Hunting shows aren't about hunting, they are about selling something. If they were about hunting, they would not be one big commercial. heck most of them are just a big commercial for whatever ranch or outiftter they are with anyway. Like any commercial they have a target audience, and some marketing group has said this type of music will appeal to this age group, and this age group is what you want to target blah blah blah.

i quit watching them.

Well, I really liked watching that buck coming closer, but I have to admit, I changed the channel to another show before he took the shot. \:\/

Actually I know of no marketing group who advises what the outdoor industry uses in their shows. This music is likely the result of the editor/host and producer's taste.

I watch them but I'm with you and could do without the music in the background while waiting for the deer to come into range. Can't remember which new show it is but the hunt or talk for 30 seconds then they advertise some ranch in Texas and do several commercials then repeat the whole thing over. The guy is in some safari get up and they play a lot of differant music, this show I can't watch.

Ok, just so I can understand this... your saying you want 30 minutes of straight footage with no sound?

On the ones where they jerk their head around to the camera quickly back and forth, then wonder why the deer turned and ran? Well duh.. Yea, and the talking/whispering with deer seemingly right on top of them...are those deer tame or something? I can have deer within 40-50 yds of me and twitch my little finger and they can see it!

Maybe not in the entry level shows but I would bet that the main stream high dollar productions do just that...as far as the type of music anyways...I have noticed that some are going with thier own in house musicians/song writer, I am guessing it is easier and probably cheaper than paying royalties out the door....just guessin tho....
