Yea, Margret was a "hoot" wasn't she. On the other hand though, she might have been genuienly excited about her kill. I don't think she meant any disrespect toward the animal, but that is just my opinion.

What I would like to see is a show with a "professional" hunter coming into an area to scout and hunt with a hobbyist on the public land. I think it would be neat to see them dissect the layout, maps, etc and put a regular "Joe" on a nice buck in "Joe's" own backyard.
I like the sound of that idea Pilgrim. Maybe it will come to be.

Many of the hunters on these shows would have a hard time killing a public land doe, much less be able to scout a unknown area (where they are not placed in a pre scouted tree stand by a outfitter) and come out successful.
Anyway, as for the whispering, it also a technical issue. They have to adjust the audio levels very high so that the cast can whisper -this is why the wind is so loud. The audio levels are so maxed out to pick up the whispering that any normal talking voice would redline and thus be distorted. There's really no way around it without some very high end audio technology that could be adjusted for presets in the field. From a production standpoint, I imagine these show are a nightmare to produce. I wouldn't want any part of it.
For that matter, I really don't understand the obsession with filming hunts. I've read hunting blogs where partners decide to start filming their hunts and complain about giving up half of their hunting time... ok, so don't film your hunts. I can understand if you have a TV show to produce, but to film on a casual level just to satisfy your own ego and put up YouTube videos seems silly and ridiculous. That's a lot of effort, trouble and difficulty to go to in order to produce a amateur product with few tangible benefits. Wouldn't you rather spend that time hunting?
I suppose you could equate this to other artistic pursuits such as playing in a local band or producing amateur movies, but in both of these examples, you are actually doing what you love. After all, the local band that may never go anywhere beyond playing the local bar and may not have aspirations to, is still doing what they love by playing music perhaps at the expense of their time, money and relationships. Producing amateur hunting videos removes someone from hunting since the cameraman, by the virtues of experience, must also be a hunter (and from what we see on TV, a poor cameraman...).
I have a difficult time buying the statements "I love hunting so much that I have to film it", "Filming hunts is my true passion", "I love filming hunts so much that I'm willing to forego everything to pursue it", "All I want to do it film hunts, it gets me off", "When I film hunts, I feel this special connection with audience"
Am I missing the philosophical boat on this one? I just don't see much in it beyond ego driven, narcissistical pursuit. Are you there to hunt or are you there to film your hunt? If your answer is the later, what are your motivations? Money? Fame? Notoriety? Profession?
Its cool and all that people can make a living hunting without being a guide and I recognize that the only way to do this these days is to film your hunts. Understandable. But, I simply do not understand the trend of filming hunts by the amateur.

I believe he said "professional" hunter Poser... I would say less than 2% of the hunters on the shows are professional hunters. When you rely on guides and assistants to put you where the deer are... well thats just a "professional" host/killer/lucky S.O.B.
