That buck is a half inch from being illegal on PI or Ensley and he's a super buck imo! Ensley is 900 acres, its where I was drawn for. I could agree with Spoon, mz would be fine there with all the hunting going on around it, but its a good archery hunt as well. Biggest problem is so many of the big mature bucks are off limits with the 9 pt rule. It is indeed a good huunt, but with the ar's, and the scout day, and the amount of people on that small triangle of timber, its simply noot worth giving up all other draw chances in the entire state for 10 or more years to hunt it the way its set up right now!! Not IMO anyway! Good luck to those whoo did draw it however, some good bucks are on and off there thats for sure! There will be a big buck parade headed over the levy on Thursday, a sight to see, but saddening it was for me! lol

Is the Ensley unit flat land or high ridges and hollers?

There are high spots and low spots but I am talking about 20 feet or less. The biggest hill you will see is the Miss. river levee.

Yep footer we got the Ensley Unit Dec. 3rd-5th. Gonna be our luck we see a couple of monster 8 pointers and cry when we have to pass em up !! LOL But i bet its gonna be worth the experience im sure! Good luck to all that is joining us!! That's what happened to me in 2008 but it was still a fun hunt. He wasn't huge but a nice deer and I'd have shot him anywhere else. Standing there taunting me at 15 yards. I did see a monster 10-pt that had it all but never came in close enough. It was tough that year because there was no water in there and people I had talked to said water was key to their travel routes. Good luck.

Ensley hunt should be a muzzleloader hunt. Hunting clubs all around the WMA I said the same thing to the TWRA guy when we hunted it and he said because it's owned by the airport authority they really have no say so and especially since 9/11. I think you ought to be able to kill 1 or 2 does too.

No way to know, but I sometimes wonder what the highest scoring 8 pointer in the PI area would score. I have never been there, but I have heard some unreal stories about 5.5 and older bucks that had monster 8 point racks.
It's a shame to seen a monarch die of old age to the worms and buzzards.....just because he didn't have...one more "point".
