Aight fess up. How many of you when you're stopping a deer say "meeeehhh"??  How many of you ran deer off when you did it? Seems like a see a heckuva lot of deer spooking when someone does that on a show. Me, I make a little whistle and never had one spook yet. I've had em ignore it, but not spook. What do you do to get one to stop?
I have found the opposite effect on one hunt at AEDC.... Had a big'um come in going for the thick stuff..... Gave him a whistle and he took off..... I guess it depends on the deer and his past....JMO

I have never purposley mee or mawwed to stop a deer, but I have
done it twice by accident with my muzzle loader, when I failed
to take off the secondary safety. The sound of the click stopped
both deer and I recovered in time to kill both bucks.
I think almost any deer will stop and listen to an unusual sound
when they are on the move. On another note, how many times have
you seen a deer chewing, and he or she suddenly stops chewing to
listen to a sound.
Same thing.

Actually, I don't "meeeahh" or whistle or really anything. So far, I've been able to take a still or walking shot each time naturally. Now if one was running by, I would try something I guess, like a snort/wheeze maybe.
