I find it hard to understand why anyone would care what others think about their hunting choices.
What gives anyone the right to tell me or anyone else what to shoot....?
While sitting in my stands, the last thing that I am thinking about is what someone else will think of me when I bring out a deer....
JMO here, but if it bothers you that others are judging you, then maybe "secretly" you are judging yourself and you are truly seeking their approval .........
JMO....
good post. It is not a matter of secretly judging one's self or seeking approval. It is the fact that you want to share your happiness and it never fails that some jerk comes in and belittles you by telling you what is wrong about your deer or your way of hunting. It happens all the time and it gets old.
My mother is 83 years old and the one phrase that i remember her saying more than any other is this..."What will people think?"
I will never understand why she is always so concerned about what other people think or may say.......who are these people that she is trying so hard to please...?
IMO, the people that she is trying so hard to please should be judging themselves instead of other people......
Before you accuse me, take a look at yourself...
Hope you get over this obsession with what other's think and write here.....you will be a happier person.....debating is a good thing, IMO, but worrying what someone on here thinks about you, especially someone that really doesn't know you....well, that is just not right....
many times when people give their opinions here, others take it too personal, when maybe it wasn't meant that way....Just because someone does not agree with you does not mean that they are belittling you....IMO.
good luck to you....

Having a disagreement on a topic or a method of hunting is one thing. Questioning why a hunter killed a deer is another. When a hunter posts a picture of a buck (or doe) he/she kills and is happy with it, then they should recieve a congratulations or compliment not a scolding or a lashing saying "should have let him walk". That is disagreeing but it is also belittling when the hunter is proud of their harvest. Sometimes, IMO, it is better to not comment at all.
I agree with you BH, we shouldn't care what others think or say especially when we don't know them. But since we don't know many on here we should keep quiet sometimes. We don't know what kind of land they hunt, how many deer they've killed or let walk, etc. I watch people post pics on here and they have to say "this is only my 3rd buck" or "my first buck with a bow" to justify why they shot it. If it's legal, no justification should be neeeded. But it happens alot. I know it isn't going to change either. If I kill a 2.5 year old buck on the eastern end of the state, why would someone in unit L care if I shot it or not?
I don't post many kill pics on here. I really don't care much what others think, but I am not gonna let my excitement after a harvest be drained cause someone doesn't think or feel the same way I do about my kill. Especially when they don't know how I arrived to my conclusion to harvest the animal.

I agree with you, but I will add this final thing.....
When we post something here, we normally expect differences in opinion. Why should the difference in 'what we shoot" be any different?
I can not remember a post , or very few that I have read on here that everyone agreed about the content....It's just human nature, I guess.
So.......you have to ask yourself this. Is it worth the "possible" aggrevation to post a pic here and maybe get some comments that you don't want? That is up to you.
Should you have to expect negative comments about your kill...? Nope, but you know in advance that you are going to get some, especailly if it is not a BIG deer......Most comments will be favorable and maybe you should focus on those comments and let the others slide off your back, so to speak.
This is somewhat of a public forum and we have many people here that have differences in opinion.
Heck, I killed a 115 inch buck with my bow and had a guy tell me that I should have let him walk....I simply laughed at him and walked away....
I think what happens is that we can get 100 favorable comments but it's always that one or two unfavorable comment that sticks in our throat.......we should simply let it go, IMO.

I totally agree with you! I think as humans many of us (through the media mostly) are so focused on the negatives that we really forget all the positives.
