I've see dozens of them every year that nobody will ever see or know about. Exactly. Here's a prime example. These 3 deer are all Tennessee deer killed on the same property in which I hunt with my Father in Law. None of these are entered into the books. I know what two of em score because Ruger scored em. Lol
Thought I would add that all 3 of these were 3 1/2 yr olds also.

Setterman are you serious(claiborne) I live up here and I see some big ones now and than But I would not put it in the top 5 countys Sometimes we might do better on focusing where these bucks are living now, rather than where they've been killed in the past.
Without question the sanctuary of all those unhuntable pockets in Williamson County probably produces a better buck age structure than other areas. But it is the habitat that grows the huge antlers. IMO, the sanctuary of unhuntable pockets (as well as archery-only pockets) should be viewed as a part of the habitat.
Regardless of habitat, none of the bucks will grow HUGE antlers if they were all killed before reaching 3 1/2. Even though a county such as Henry appears to have much better habitat, I'd bet there are more 150-class bucks in Claiborne County as we ponder these thoughts.
Just my opinion, but I believe you'll see Obion County become TN's #1 County for putting 150-class bucks in the TN Deer Registry for the decade of 2010 - 2019 deer seasons. While counties like Claiborne are also going to shock and awe many who will be left behind studying soil maps of the Mid-West and trying to figure out how this is happening --- overlooking such things as shifting hunter practices, buck age structure, and the relative lack of antler high-grading in these areas (hunters killing off most of the young bucks with above average antlers at 2 1/2).
But that said, neither Obion, Claiborne, nor counties I hunt a lot such as Stewart top my list as the best place for any individual hunter to score on a 150-class TN buck in the coming decade. If you can get exclusive access to at least a significant acreage (where almost no one takes ANY bucks younger than 3 1/2), I'd agree that Davidson & Williamson remain at the top of the list, but so would be overlooked "spots" in urban counties such as Shelby or rural counties such as Lake & Dyer. Regardless of "where" you're hunting, the best way to come into large-antlered older bucks, is simply not to shoot them when they're relatively large-antlered younger bucks.

Fentress is a good example of what you just mentioned. No Mid-West soil there i can tell ya and these other factors that you are talking about along with habitat are the reason why its at the top IMO. A deer can survive long enough in those mountains, no Mid-West soil needed.

Mossy 300, Three GREAT Tn. bucks. And CERTAINLY worthy of anyones wall. But isn't it AMAZING what the FINAL NET SCORE is after deductions? I am sure most on this forum would find it FASCINATING to see these three bucks Gross, and then FINAL net scores!!!

Ditto BSK!
Chocolate rack on the end starting on the left grossed 156 and the one on the other end grossed 151. Haven't had the middle one scored. We only use 'net' when we're fishing. Lol! Both main frame 8's with a few sticker points.
