I find it hard to understand why anyone would care what others think about their hunting choices.
What gives anyone the right to tell me or anyone else what to shoot....?
While sitting in my stands, the last thing that I am thinking about is what someone else will think of me when I bring out a deer....
JMO here, but if it bothers you that others are judging you, then maybe "secretly" you are judging yourself and you are truly seeking their approval .........

Well said browtines.
Now if we can get the so-called trophy hunters to quite trying to force regulations that push their agenda at the expanse of other hunters, we can all live in peace and hunt the way we each want to hunt.
Yeah easy for you to say there BSK. Not everyone is as fortunate as to have a 500 acre private utopia with mature bucks running shod. Im sure your very happy and im glad. But stop thinking about yourself for a minute.

I have read enough. kept my keyboard shut long enough. I am a TN resident. I pay $136 for my license every year. I plant food plots and pay $550 a year in leases. That does not count all the money i spend on hunting each year.
That being said... All this trophy hunter, meat hunter, bambi killer, let em walk talk is absolutely crazy. I am allowed to kill my quota of deer each year. I dont care what anyone thinks about me, if they are judging me on the size horns or the length of teets a deer has, they have personal issues. Guys and gals... WE ARE ON THE SAME TEAM... Be happy when someone kills a deer and when someone kills a "trophy" go slobber all over it... But I have a choice to make in my stand ever time I get the chance to shoot a deer. Kill this one or let this one walk. No one else can make that descision for me. And if I choose to shoot the deer then in "my" book it is a trophy. But better than that it is some jerky, sausage, etc.... So cool down people and remember that we are on the same side. All of us want to see hunting move forward not backwards. TWRA does an outstanding job of managing our herd. Now lets zip our zippers and quit this peeing contest. Lets go hunting.....
GOOD POST!! As long as hunters make smart management decisions,. we don't need TWRA limits,...IMO!! Even though some areas could benefit from a slight change in limits,.. there is no data indicating that we are overharvesting young bucks at this time,.. ANYWERE in the state.

the only judging i do is I judge how many bags of "jerky" is walking in front of me. I said I could care less what people think of what i kill. As long as TWRA says i can and I do not waste what i kill then life is good.

i don't have a 500 acre "utopia" and i agree with BSK 100%. Heck, I don't have a 500-acre "utopia" either! Now I do have 500 acres of unproductive hardwoods growing in chert-rock soil with a pH of 4.3 that I'm trying desparately to improve, but no utopia yet! But you'll have a better chance at bagging a wall hanger than most hunters in this state i guarantee... And you would be dead wrong with that guarantee. Most property I monitor is far more productive than mine. You get my drift. Before we start blasting one group of hunters for wanting a reg change lets make sure were on level playing field before we pass judgement. Without question anyone with access to private property has an advantage over those who only hunt public property. However, TWRA's hunter surveys found the vast majority of TN deer hunters hunt private property some of the time. Agreed. Im fortunate myself to have private land to hunt, just like to keep everyone else in mind. Know alot of folks that would really love the chance at a nice buck, just want to see that everyone gets as good a chance as we can give for hunters that are interested in that type of hunting, thats all. The more interest in hunting we have here in TN the better off we will all be in the long run.JMO
You make my point exactly..... Who has better data, who can make the best decision on our bag limits??? I think TWRA is the answer to both of these. They are numerous hunter opportunities out there. I killed my biggest deer ever on a draw hunt. But when it comes to my seven year old this year hunting with me she can harvest a 1.5 yr old spike if she chooses. And after she harvests that deer her year wont be over. She will still be able to go hunting and still have the OPPORTUNITY to kill another deer. If we cater to the trophy hunters with a 1 buck limit then her year would be over. What creates more interest than being able to kill a buck and still be able to hunt??? I know the trophy debate will be if she lets him walk then he will grow and be bigger next year and she can kill a true tropy next year. Next year is next year but this year...... WE GONNA HUNT......

There are quite a few big bucks on Catoosa. My lease is across the river from it and I have seen what I consider large bucks on my trail cameras,and believe they are from across the river on Catoosa.

yes......three up on one side not counting the browtine....which, in most cases, will make it an eight point or better....
I never shoot anything that i do not feel is what i want to kill. I am never pressured to shoot a deer to be successful. I will go a full season without shooting a buck, no matter what the size if I do not feel that he is a deer that I want to take.....I do the same thing on private land with no restrictions. it's just a personal restriction that I put on myself....I have never cared what other's think about what i shoot . Why should I ?
