we are glad you think so. our opinion of him is the polar opposite and that's all i'm gonna say about that.

LMAO, im with the 'he's an absolute arsehole crowd' I can see how he has had to downgrade over the years to a tiny hole in the wall shop, he's downright boligerant (sp) at times and if he doesnt have what you ask for, he will tell you how wrong you are for needing that item and how much you really need whatever it is he happens to have at that time!!!lol he's a piece of work for sure. I have actually overlooked him and bought a few things over the years out of necessity, but he's definitely not in the first ten places I look!

Brian who was working there last hunting season is a good guy.... He used to work at Black Oak above the floral shop in Halls... I don't know if he is still working with HA this yr.... Bought my first PSE bow from Brian back in the 90's... I have also done business with HA and you just got to know how to take the guy... His prices are a little high but he seems pretty fair and the one time I had a problem with a piece of equipment I bought from him (HA), he replaced it on the spot...

I like H and Brian. The man is a little direct and sure he wants to sell you something... its his livelihood. He has always been straight with me and service has been excellent. This includes Brian, he is a great guy as well. Sorry you guys have had a bad experience.

Richard Cranium, pcrc I bet you know him Your jumpin on me? Surely my post hasnt been the most negative so far. Lets see where it goes. My guess is there will many more negatives than positives from people who have ACTUALLY dealt with him. I have had a few good dealings with him and some times I have left there swearing I would never go back. I can tell you I will only go there now if I absolutley have to have it right now and cant wait. Sure you can catch a person on a bad day and but when you keep hearing the same story over and over and over and over and over and over and over there is probaly a reason why.

Brian is a good guy. I also bought a PSE from him when he had the place over the florist shop,As for H.A. I'll keep my comments to myself about him.
I will say this I have driven more then 50 miles one way to buy from someone else.

I told him he was a idiot and it was the worst proshop i have ever been to, i went to big stone gap, VA and bought it somewhere else the next day. I think the guy is a A$$ oh well he lost 900 bucks...

Sounds like HA has let his business get the best of him He really was a nice guy years ago. I hate to hear all the bad things about him. I am glad we have a couple good shops up here.
pcrc your statement about this being an advertising Gimmick was a bit over the top.

I know you have problems with him and I'm not trying to change your opinion. But for someone to take that comment seriously, then leave and drive to VA. is pretty dang funny.

if it was just in fun then he needs to find some other form of amusement. that's no way to run a business and as you can see, i am not the only one that feels that way. i probably would have done the same thing.

I feel you. I like him and buy a new bow every year from him. I'm actually buying two more next week for my nephews. So I guess you could say I'm picking up the slack for the lost customer in you and that other guy I quoted earlier. Funny how things just even out. For all your bad experience, I have had the exact opposite. I'm sure you have a good bow shop you prefer. There is one in Seymour that a father and son run. They are polar opposite of HA. Can't remember shop name but you can find it in Mathews dealer search. Good luck on up coming season.

since eagles wings closed, i no longer have a "home" shop. and good luck to you too.
as long as HA does you right, then by all means you should patronize his shop.

Now that Eagles wIngs has closed, I've been to Sportsman Choice a few times in the last year with mixed results. Any recommendations....I'm in Clinton?

pcrc your statement about this being an advertising Gimmick was a bit over the top. Please explain why my statement is over the top. Your original post sounds like an advertisment to me. Telling about a great sale on Hoyt Bows and what a wonderful guy he is. Not saying HA is behind it, but your good intentions seem to have backfired. Just remember one bad recomendation will follow someone longer than 100 good ones, and so far the bads outnumber the goods by probaly 3 to 1.

Smokey Mountain Pro Archery is the name of the shop in Seymour (Just South of Knoxville). Nice Father - Son business. Have more than just Mathews of course. Maybe check them out, hopefully if might help you out.

He didn't lose $900, more like $100 after his mark up. What was your final cost including the gas you spent to go to Va? ...Man you talk about given a person a good laugh this morning... your story takes the cake. Well maybe it doesn't make sense to you and that's OK some people don't have all the info before they make unknowledgeable comments. I live 15 minutes away from VA i just happened to be near the idiot in Knoxville while visiting a friend and thought i would stop and look at bows since i was in the market for one. And yes the 20 dollar deal is true i saw the guy take his twenty from someone while i was there just for letting him shoot a bow. If i read the paper tomorrow morning and saw that his shop had to close for good...now that would be and early morning laugh!!!

Guys the shop in Claxton seems to be OK. I had some small stuff done to my Sons bow while I was working out of town and they did a good job. Price was just a little high but I was happy with the work. These were very simple things so I cant say how good they are in all areas, but so far so good! I can say that most anything is better than HA's bad attitude or Eagles wings Jokers thats for sure! Good luck to everyone, and like posted above, if your happy with a place then by all means use them, happiness in an archery shop can be hard to find!!lol
