What is the deer hunting like in Carroll County? Mainly interested in quality, but also interested in the numbers. Are there certain areas that are better or worse? Just curious because I may start looking for some land out in mid-west TN for hunting. Thanks.

I've only hunted Carroll county once, so I'm no expert, but there are a lot of deer there from what i was told. We hunted over a thanksgiving weekend and it was warm and rainy, but we still saw some deer. Didn't see any good ones, but they are there and my brother's father in law, who's family owns the land, has killed some good ones out of there. I would say it is same as any Unit L county. Lots of deer and depending on nutrition in the area possibly some god ones in there.

Carroll Co. has good deer populations with potential for some very nice deer. I was born and raised in west TN and have been hunting it since 82. You won't be disappointed provided you are on the right piece of land.

Don't waste you time and money.......There are no deer in Carroll County - it's a deer desert.
Carroll Co. has ranked in the top ten counties for kills for quite a few years. It is in the "L" zone.
As far as quality goes, it is about average for West Tennessee. I have killed several deer that score in the 120's and 130's over the years. Nothing bigger. Never seen one bigger there but I have only hunted there since 1970 so what do I know.

Have you went to the trophy site and clicked on that county and looked at the quality of animals on exhibit? Should help.

Thanks for the replies. Checked out the pics in the trophy room, and it looks like there are some good deer there. I'd like to find some land to buy in that general area or any nearby county with quality deer. I'm interested in 100-250 acres just for hunting if the price were right, so if anyone knows of anything shoot me an email or pm. Thanks.
