I had a sixth sense experience too. I had a very mature 9-pointer coming in to my set up. I am 20 foot high and the wind is in my favor. It is almost dark. The buck comes in to 26 yards and needs one to two more steps for a perfect broadside shot. He suddenly stops, stands for 1-2 minutes, takes about 6 or 8 steps backwards, and slowly, very slowly, eases back into the thicket from which he came.
Two considerations that are possible: 1st- It was evening and it is possible that even though the wind was in my face, there were thermals that trickled his way. I'm not positive about this, but it is the one of two things I can think of other than sixth sense.
2nd- I drew on the deer while his head was behind a tree. I feel there in no way he knew I moved. He also walked a few more steps after I came to full draw. He never looked my way either.
Sixth sense? possibly...I'm guessing he "smelled" something the wasn't right. Maybe he heard my heart beating or knees knocking...
