the deer the kid has in the above pic is a trophy where I hunt,,I would smoke him in a heartbeat here at home on my land,,if I was on a lease in Ky or hunting in Ill somewhere I would want it all there,,

You're on stand and here comes a pretty good looking buck, maybe 2.5-3.5 years old. He has at first what seems to be a nice rack but when he gets right in front of you you can see he has 4 points broken off of his main beams making a once 10 pointer now a 6 pointer. Would you shoot him anyway?
Thats the question that separates Mature deer hunters and Horn or Trophy hunters imo.
But my opinion matters to few.

Nope, not even if he was fully mature. If I can see he is broken up badly he gets a pass, as next year he may well be the trophy of a lifetime for someone, and now he is just an ugly old buck! imo
