Oh I remember my first deer Gator,I remeber em all,I also remember walking up on a small 8 15 or so years ago,and thinking,I can do better than this If I try .I really dont care what others do,I dont really understand it,but my place is sort of an Island,so,It doesnt really matter.
I can get all the meat I want from does. and that is part of the problem.guys who have good places to hunt don't understand how someone who hunts public land can get excited over a small buck even though the guy on public land probably hunted harder for his small deer.
You forgot to mention the guys that hunt in East TN..... also. We only get to kill a few does a yr, not three a day. This is why sometimes even a small buck makes it to the freezer...

Your gonna smart allec answer all my posts,so until I get bored ,Ill smart allec answer em back.About 5 years ago,I losts 3 leases, good spots, mainly because the guy who owned the land saw me and my buddy load 2 really good bucks, now he hunts em.
I hunted public land that year, passed on many bucks, saw some good ones in bow, couldnt get a shot.
Found a great spot in KY.I hunt it still to this day, through a lot of leg work, found a great spot, that no one,at least Ive never seen anyone, hunts.Killed a couple of nice bucks,my son as well.
I spent many hours searching, found my land, worked hard ,made sacrifices, and bought it.Aint America GREAT!?!

lol how was my answer "Smart allec"? i was just stating a fact.Man you get your feelings hurt to easy.I read it again and don't really see why you are upset.I just stated how guys hunting public land often work harder for small bucks than guys on private land do for bigger deer.

Wow. Lots of "I"s, "me"s, & "my"s in some folks posts. Reckon that says a lot about someone?
And to address the OP, I've not ever seen a buck that a hunter took that was bad unless it was a gutshot that had to wait overnight during opening weekend.
Have I ever seen folks take deer that I personally would pass on? All the time.

Some good posts here. Deer hunting like many other things, you get back what you put in. Its all in what you make of it. If your happy with, or willing to accept, the 3 days a yr and 1 scout day, then expect that type results, as in a doe or spike for the tag. Which is great if it makes you happy! If you want more then put more in from the start. The only problem I have is the people who put the 3 days a yr in and then complain that the hunting is bad here and the limits/seasons need to be changed! LMAO, no change in the world will make laziness and bad preparation be succesful!
