Would you put a hangon stand on a tree you can climb easily with your climber or put it somewhere else and just use your climber on that tree?? I got a hang on stand I was gonna put up on a tree that I can easily use my climber on,but the more I think about it,the more I think I should put the hang on somewhere else and keep useing my climber on it..I put to much thought in it..lol

My climber is more comfortable so I use it whenever I can.
Lock on will be used where I cant go with a climber.

It really depends. if im going to hunt there often its much easier to climb up and down in the hang on. but like mentioned above the climber is much more comfortable. I hunt 90% of the time out of a climber only because i dont have enough hang on stands to put up in all my spots.

cecil - I typically put all my lock-ons in areas that are far away from our cabin (so I dont have to carry a climber the great distance). I also put them in some areas that I cant get a climber in due to the trees being "raggedy" or small. Some, I may hunt 5-7 times a year, and some, I may hunt just once...while waiting on that perfect timing to move in there that one time. But typically, if its a close walk, and I dont have a worry in the world about getting a climber on a tree in that area, I use a climber. My lock-ons are for the mornings I have a far walk into an area and dont wanna make any racket and well, sometimes I just get lazy , but know I need to move in on an area thats far away

I only hang lock-ons if there is absolutely no way to use a climber. Then I normally hunt somewhere else in my climber because 99 times out of 100, when the season rolls around I find a place with better looking sign somewhere else. I've come to the conclusion that for me, hanging stands is a waste of time because I probably won't hunt 'em anyway. JMO

I prefer the stealth of having a buck of lock ons I can slip into. I use a lone wolf lock on and sticks for my mobile hunting just for versatility...still have the summit waiting in the wings when I want a really cush hunt.

I'm all about the lock-ons. I'd much rather walk in and slip into a lock-on without a lot fuss and noise. The climber stays in the truck in case I need it though.
