Just depends on the mood I'm in. I am thinking about carrying both gun and bow this season. If a doe comes by in bow range then I'll shoot her with a bow just so I don't stir up the woods with the gun going off. Does the sound really matter,? I don't know, but I think it does.

Your right rafi, I don't and that is one of the reasons why. I do have my buddies shoot me one from time to time. My parents farm has a group of does that range from 28-43 that will be out in their hay field all season. Never a buck, cept during rut. I need to shoot a couple.

I had a buck standing beside a doe but not presenting a shot. I dropped the doe on the spot and the buck hightailed it out of there. Fifteen minutes later the buck came back grunting every step of the way trailing the doe. He stopped when he got to her and I piled him up on top of her. This was a 3.5 year old deer. I've killed several does with a buck in tow that returned and I've had some that didn't. It all depends on how wound up the buck is.

Years ago, while still not completely understanding deer hunting, I too, was afraid to shoot a doe. Then, quite by accident, I shot a doe during the rut. I was amazed at what happened next. It was un believable to see how attractive she was to nearby, and DISTANT bucks. Talk about your "golden estrus". CODE BLUE MAN!
Since that time I have almost had to fight bucks off to take my downed doe to the truck.
I don't think this will work unless there is a rut. but who knows.

During Mz and the first two weeks of gun season for sure in many cases. my desire to kill a buck overides the doe killing desire much of the time.

i sure aint afraid to drop the hammer,i look at the doe's as a great steak on the table & a promise of a buck as another stop mcdonalds on the way home lmao.if a buck shows up before i will bust it & i prefer a big buck but im not greedy,i will take what the good lord provides.i reckon hunting this end of the state kinda makes you look at 1 in the bed beats 1 that may never be seen,i tried to be a big buck hunter for 4 years, never sqeezed a trigger, let doe's walk at my motherinlaws place for many a years only to see them taken & not cked in by BUCK HUNTERS.just proud to have hunted during Tn's best deer hunting years ,mike243

I don't shoot does til the 2nd rifle season, at least not on the property I hunt. When I friend invites me to hunt his property and ask that I take a doe for him, then I oblige. We usually eat 3-4 deer per year, mostly Chile and Spaghetti. If I get too greedy and don't take the does til the 2nd season and then I'm not successful,,,my uncle and cousin will usually get me a couple from a couple pieces of property they hunt.

I basically dont shoot does in November to avoid this situation! It could happen anytime I know, but my serious hunting is normally done in November, so October and December see's the does hitting the ground for us!
