I try and shoot a doe during early bow season. From late October all through November, I am looking for antlers. After that I start pounding the does. x2

I try to take a couple does during the early bow season...During ML and later I'll still take one if need be, but I'll let her lay till I'm ready to come down. I've never had a buck approach a dead doe, but have kill'd a few not long after putting one down.

Being from unit b..for most of my hunting career the only time to take does were in archery and one 3 day weekend in muzzleloader. I always killed my does with a bow cause if I killed a doe on muzzleloader i was done. It's changed now and I may take a doe w/ blackpowder. I tend to see more bucks out and about in blackpowder season so I wait till last day to take a doe if I decide to do so.
However if I have a stand I am hunting a particular buck I won't shoot anything out of that stand but him or another good buck. I have my mind made before I get in the woods whether or not I will shoot a doe if given the opportunity.

Between late Oct and Early Dec. I will not shoot them. I will however shoot them in early bow, for meat and then after First week in Dec. it's on!

When it comes to gun season, I always wondered about how a gun blast affects a mature deer that might be close by. Let's say you kill the doe with a rifle or muzzle loader and there is a mature buck hanging off the side off a ridge scent checking for does. Does he write off that sound or has he been educated in the past as to what's up.
I have my guesses, but I have no way to back them up as proof.
