Bone Collector,
I turkey hunted there this Spring and marked some potential set ups for bow season, though I haven't been back to Mid TN since then. I have navigated to some areas on Percy Priest using a canoe. It's not to badd in the dark as there is a lot of light pollution around much of the lake. I use a GPS to navigate to my locations.
-never been so sure about leaving my boat unattended for hours on end, so I use a bike lock and chain it to a tree as a precaution. I've used the boat on approaches that could be made by foot, but its so much more stealthy if you are hunting close to the edge of the lake.
There are some good spots in there, but i have run into a lot of traffic in there.

in 04 lease prices in Ky got to where we couldnt afford a motel and drove back and forth 10 days in a row,75 miles one way,,after that I learned that I was just as happy hunting 100 class deer out the back door as fooling with all that crap,,
I can hunt without even starting a vehicle

Drove to LBL from Chatt area by myself, 4 hours, twice last year once for a morning hunt another time all day in the stand hunt. Had to leave the house at 2 am to get there before daylight. Man was I ever tired when I got home.

That's really having it made, I speculate. I have had conversations with folks who can't imagine hunting any other way i.e. "Why would you drive anywhere to hunt?"
This, of course, is one of my ultimate goals in life. Until then, its city livin' and driving to hunt.

Every place I have to hunt (three) is less than 20 minutes away.
But, IF i had a really good place to go that was better than what I have now, then I guess that I would drive as far as I needed to.....

We drive to Western KY form knoxville almost every weekend to hunt. If we are not going there we drive to Stewart Co. I've done that for so long now the drive doesnt seem bad at all.

X2, 16 weekends including a juvy hunt and 2 scouting trips last year.

Drove 4hrs. each way to hunt for 1 day many times when I was younger.
On 3 day weekends....Fri., we would drive 2hrs., then backpack another 7-8hrs.....hunt on Sat.... then pack out and drive home on Sun.

1.5h max for day hunts in bow season (longer days, translating to getting on the road much earlier in the AM and getting home much later in the PM).
2h max for day hunts in late Nov/Dec.
But heck, it takes me 2h to get from my elk camp to the hunting grounds for a 1/2 day hunt, and it's only 7 miles away!
