I watch the moon and other environmental factors out of curiosity. But I don't plan my hunts around any of these conditions. Good conditions or bad, I'm going.
The only factor that drives my hunting is the rut. I plan most of my hunting around the peak 6 weeks of the rut.

From 33 years of TN data, the difference in buck sighting rates from the best moon conditions to the worst moon conditions is only a decline of around 40%. And that's only the average over time. You can have a great day during what traditionally is a "bad moon day" and bad days during what is traditionally a "great moon day."
I rank weather conditions as a much stronger factor than moon conditions in daylight deer movement.

I hunt any chance I can get. I pay no attention to the moon.

Very good info guys. One question BSK or anyone else that can answer. When is the forecasted rut this year for East TN?

East TN is the hardest rut to call. It seems like people report different peak breeding times depending on whether you are in moutain or valley areas.

I go when I can regardless of moon or weather. With that said in early season I do see a lot more deer movement on the days the charts says they feed more. They don't really match the time of day it says but I do see more deer. Now after they get out of their early season feeding pattern the moon doesn't seem to have much effects on my sightings. Like BSK said the weather seems to have a lot more effect during that time period. Full moons have not been good for me either but I think much of that has to do with the deer moving more mid day and I'm not able to stay all day due to things that I have to get done.

This year I am on a lease in Campbell Co. Part of our lease shares the state line with KY.
