But I'll still probably be among those out fighting ticks, chiggers, and mosquitoes while I'm watching as much for snakes as deer.

Best thing I could add is hunt your places sparingly,
so they're not over-hunted by the time those spots would have been at their best (usually sometime between late Oct and early Dec.) It may be that the best way to kill more deer in November is to hunt less in September. And that's not just because the opportunity is usually better in November, but also because we can loose some of our enthusiasm by hunting too much at the wrong times.

Not to mention, vacation days taken in September, may be at the expense of vacation days in November.
