Just curious as to what each of you put in for. I know there are those that put in for P.I., but Im curious as to where you want to return year after year. Oak Ridge is mine. Ive never killed a hoss there but ive got my spot where I go that always has good sign. Ive seen some dandy bucks crusin by but theyve been just out of range.

Well, not a WMA, but can I say Reelfoot NWR? Long point is my favorite spot.

Quota hunt is Oak Ridge. Not that I think it's the best WMA, it's just the one I can draw year after year and the better I know it, the better my hunting there gets.
Non-quota hunt is Foothills WMA. It's certainly not because the hunting is great. I guess I just like hiking around the mountain with a 7 pound weight in my hand that gets to fling a bullet every couple of years. Where I hunt, I have to really want to kill the deer I'm looking at before I shoot it.

I used to love AEDC, couldn't wait for the 1st drawn bow hunt each year. Sometimes got the 1st hunt, sometimes got the 2nd hunt, and sometimes was lucky enough to get both. Always had action, saw lots of dear and usually got a shot. Killed my fair share over the yrs., that is until the last 8 to 10 yrs., somthing changed and I am not sure what, but, it is definately different now. I didn't even go last year, and probably won't this year. Now I mostly hunt Catoosa and priv. prop.

Oak Ridge for me. My dad, brother, and me have been there the last 4 or 5 years. We enjoy the cooking while camping and having a good weekend. Pops killed a 107lb doe the first year and I missed a heavy massed 9 point and and saw a definite "book" deer. Since, we've only saw 1.5 old bucks. We don't put in for inside the fence anymore. But all the other areas seem to give you an opportunity at a good buck.

I don't hunt a WMA anymore, but Laurel Hill is where I would put in for, if I did. LH doesn't have the stats in the last few years, but I know for a fact that it has a long history of producing some huge bucks.
It has alot of older timber that needs to be harvested, but I will bet there are areas that have good cover. There has been alot of bad storms in that area...if you know what I'm talking about.

Used to love Oak Ridge, but last year we had no less than 8 extremely rude, noisy idiots walk all over us, even with me giving them some loud verbal insights into their rude behavior.
3 different groups did it to us. We moved to another area, got walked over again first thing next morning. Both of these places were pretty far from the road, had to hump in hard. Saw them from a good ways off, tried waving them off with my blaze orange hat, they just ignored me, tromped right past, and setup within sight of me.
I doubt if we'll go back there. Good deer, have killed some good ones there, but there are too many hunters on that place. I know it's 37000 acres, but the way it's broken up, the gun zone only totals about half of that, and the 500 hunters get concentrated.Boils down to 37 acres per hunter. I wouldn't pay for a lease with that ratio, so why hunt public land with that kinda ratio??
TWRA needs to drop the Oak Rige quota, maybe add an extra hunt. I liked it better in the old days, when the gun zone was much larger, it wasn't near as crowded.
So, my favorite?
Catoosa, by far and away.
Plenty of deer, 80,000 unbroken acres, plenty of camp space, good quality animals, and I've never seen another hunter near my honeyhole, which is exactly 1.2 miles deep in the woods.
80,00 acres provides for 64 acres per hunter on the gun quota hunts. Twice as much as Oak Ridge.
My opinion.

I had the same thing happen last year at Oak ridge. i would say they weren't real happy when I locked the gate behind me as I left them to do their drives. However, I consistently kill good deer there so i will keep going back as long as I can get drawn.

I've only really been to Catoosa. Let's just say i'm glad they lowered the quota; though I have had good experiences there with barbecue chicken and deer burgers.
